Dakji 딱지
What is it?
Dakji is a traditional Korean game played using thick folded paper squares. The goal is simple: flip your opponent’s dakji by slamming yours onto it.
Where does it come from?
Popular since the 1970s and ‘80s, especially among school children, Dakji is still played today — and even featured in Korean dramas and global pop culture (yes, that Squid Game scene!).
How to Play :
-
Each player has a dakji tile.
-
Take turns throwing your tile onto your opponent’s lying on the ground.
-
If you flip it — you win!
What is it?
Jegichagi is Korea’s version of hacky sack — but instead of a ball, you kick a handmade shuttlecock called a jegi.
When is it played?
Often played during Seollal (Lunar New Year), it’s especially fun to see children and adults in hanbok trying to beat each other’s kick count!
How to Play :
-
Use the top of your foot to kick the jegi upwards.
-
The challenge is to kick it at least 5 times in a row without dropping it.
-
Land 5 clean kicks = you win
🎁 Prize! Kick the jegi 5 times in a row without dropping it 👉 1 Photism Voucher (10 winners total)

Yutnori 윷놀이
What is it?
Yutnori is a traditional team board game, played by tossing four wooden sticks (yut) to determine your movement around a board.
Cultural background :
Yutnori is one of the most important holiday games in Korea, played during Seollal with family and friends. It blends strategy, chance, and teamwork.
How to Play :
-
Toss the 4 yut sticks onto the ground.
-
Move your token depending on how they land:
-
Do 도 = 1 space
-
Gae 개 = 2
-
Geol 걸 = 3
-
Yut 윷 = 4 (+ extra throw)
-
Mo 모 = 5 (+ extra throw)
-
Baekdo 백도 = 1 space backward
-
-
Land on another player to send them back to start!
First team to complete the path wins.

Gonggi 공기
What is it?
Gonggi is a popular Korean game played mostly by little girls — like a solo version of jacks — using 5 small stones or dice-like pieces.
Why it’s loved :
It’s a game of speed, timing, and concentration, often played during school breaks or between classes.
How to Play :
-
Toss 1 stone in the air, pick up another from the ground, and catch the tossed one before it falls.
-
Continue — now pick up 2, then 3, then 4.
-
Final round: toss 1, flip the others on your hand, and catch them all!
Complete all levels = mission success.
🎁 Prize! Reach Level 5 and catch 4 or 5 stones successfully 👉 1 Photism Voucher (10 winners total)
